Chris Riegg was born and raised in West Allis, Wisconsin, an industrial suburb of Milwaukee. As an experienced investment banker and strategic advisor, his career has focused on advising ownership groups and leadership teams on a wide variety of business and transaction objectives. He has advised well over 200 business owners and executive management teams on the exploration of strategic and financial alternatives encompassing business sale and acquisition matters (M&A), debt refinancing, restructuring, and recapitalization initiatives, and the arrangement of institutional debt and private equity capital. Over his 30+ years within the financial services industry, Chris has had exposure to a broad spectrum of industries including companies representing manufacturing, service, distribution, and technology sectors. Throughout his career, Chris has helped clients resolve a variety of complex business issues, including matters related to growth, acquisition, business development, financing, ownership transition, and business structure. He has also assisted companies in overcoming distressed situations.

Promontory Strategy Group (PSG) was established to offer a select group of ownership and leadership teams a dedicated and experienced strategic and financial expert. In addition to PSG, Chris co-leads Promontory Point Capital (PPC), an investment banking boutique focused on privately held businesses, which he founded in 2004. Earlier in his career, Chris held leadership roles at L. William Teweles & Co., U.S. Bank Capital Markets, and J.P. Morgan Chase. His extensive transactional experience includes working with acquirers, ownership groups looking to sell their businesses, banks, private equity firms, mezzanine lenders, and other institutional investors.

Chris is often invited to speak with business ownership groups, leadership teams, and other professional advisors, such as lawyers, accountants, and commercial lenders. He also participates in various C-Level forums. In his presentations, he shares his expertise on a range of topics, including pre-transaction planning (“pre-game”), achieving ownership liquidity and transition goals, successfully growing through strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and executing financing and refinancing strategies. Chris earned his Master’s degree in Corporate Finance from Marquette University and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a licensed CPA in the State of Wisconsin. Core Values

Principles that guide every engagement.

In 2004 I jointly established Milwaukee-based Promontory Point Capital as an investment banking firm focused on providing business and transaction advisory services to privately-held, many of which are family-held, businesses. My vision for my firm was to advise ownership groups and leadership teams that require professional expertise and leadership in areas such as succession planning, achieving ownership transition and liquidity goals, completing corporate finance and refinancing objectives, along with other strategic M&A and financing goals. During my time leading Promontory, the firm had the privilege of initiating over 200 client engagements serving a diverse set of industries encompassing manufacturers, companies involved in business services, technology, and software, as well as distribution companies operating across the Midwest and beyond.

Throughout my career spanning 30+ years serving as a trusted advisor to family ownership groups, CEO’s, CFO’s, and a wide spectrum of leadership teams, I have been guided by a set of core values.

Integrity & Objectivity

Riegg has built trust with privately-held and family-owned businesses by providing unbiased, market-informed advice — not by selling products or pushing agendas.

Deliver objective, conflict-free guidance rooted in integrity and transparency.

Partnership & Trust

Riegg serves as a true partner — often the “fourth advisor” alongside a Company’s attorney, accountant, and lender — guiding clients through some of the most consequential moments in their business and personal lives.

Earn long-term trust by treating each client relationship as a partnership built on mutual respect and discretion.

Expertise & Excellence

Riegg brings deep transactional experience and sophisticated financial insight that many mid-market businesses can’t easily access.

Pursue excellence in everything — applying proven expertise, rigorous analysis, and sound judgment.

Stewardship & Legacy

Riegg’s work often helps family and privately owned businesses protect or transition what’s often a lifetime’s work — their legacy.

Each engagement is viewed as an opportunity to preserve and enhance the legacy of those who built the business.

Independence & Perspective

Riegg provides an outside perspective — stepping back from internal bias or emotion to offer clarity and strategy.

Independence allows Riegg to see the full picture and bring fresh thinking to complex decisions.

Commitment to Results

Riegg focuses on outcomes that matter — helping owners realize shareholder value, complete transitions, and strengthen their financial future.

Success is measured by the tangible results delivered and the confidence clients gain.
